Senior Warden’s Report What a great experience it was for me to attend the 183rd Annual Council meeting in Tupelo. The bishop stated that despite all the financial obstacles and internal disagreements for the past few years, there have been 22 churches in the diocese that have either launched, completed, or are considering capital campaigns for facility expansions. In addition the bishop challenged each parish to involve itself in overseas missions. The Holy Eucharist on Sunday was very impressive with all the "smells and bells", as a friend calls it, and the processional with the church flags being brought in and placed around the arena. The Investment Committee met early in February to discuss methods that could be used to finance the Rayner House project. The Investment committee members are: Frank Melton, Jed Turner and Todd Jeffreys. The scope of the renovation has changed; therefore, there are new quotes to be added. When this is completed, the Investment Committee will meet again to finalize their decision which will be presented to the Vestry for approval. The ECW met on Feb. 10th and Georgia Smith, President, had an agenda which generated discussion of upcoming projects and socials. Signe Adams presented the financial report and Lee Aylward discussed the greenery sales and her trip to L&O Greenery when she was in Washington. I understand from Clay Rayner that the men's pancake supper prepared the largest number of takeouts ever. I hope that you had the opportunity to attend as the food was great. This was a time to share fellowship with friends from our parish and others in the community. It gives us all a sense of pride to have this pancake supper each year at our parish. Thank you also to the Boy Scouts and their leaders who also helped. Keith Pettway presented the adult Sunday school with several weeks of the history of music in the Church. He had some hands on keyboard presentations as well as CD examples. This last Sunday in February, Richard Houston has started discussions about Lent and what it means to us. If you have not had the opportunity to join us, please do so as we have some interesting discussions. And thank you to Cam McMillen and all those who have helped with the hospitality after the service each Sunday. This is a great time to get to know those who are your fellow "neighbors". Please feel free to contact me with comments, concerns, or recommendations. God's Peace, Liz Redd 721-0553 or 843-8962
